House style

House Style

Mojo House Style

One of Mojos main house styles is the use of their mast head on every  page. This helps readers to know that it's a Mojo  article and helps them to remember what  magazine they are  reading.

Most Mojo front coves have a similar layout, along with the same colour scheme on most of the front pages. Black and white are the predominant colours on the cover, with the mast head normally in white, but changes due to the background colour. These colours are recognised a nd associated with Mojo so the reader knows it's a Mojo magazine.

A re-occurring feature within Mojo is The Mojo| Interview. The slug on this page is always found in a light blue and black background with the text in white. When the reader sees this slug they know what it is as the colours relate to the article

Mojos main font, that is used for the masthead reappears throughout  the magazine  within slugs and sub titles. They use the same font as type font is associated with the mast head of Mojo when it is seen. This means that the reader knows who the article is by without  having  to look at the front cover.

Q house style

Q's house style is simple and easy to notice. One of Q's main house styles is the placing of their mast head on every page next to the page number.  This is so that the Q branding is carried through the whole magazine so thst the reader knows that all the content in the magazine is Q's

On the front cover of every Q magazine red black and white are the primary colours. When these colours are seen on the front cover they are associated with Q straight away.

Another main house  style of Q's is to have  drop caps at the beginning  of every article. The drop cap is in white and contained within a red box. This is the use of Q's main  colours. This helps the reader to know its an article by Q.it is also very similar to Q's masthead as that is a white Q within a red box.

All of the slugs that are seen throughout the magazine are simukar as they all have simular font against a one colour background. Most  of the slugs contaim a small image that is related to what  the page is about, e.g. in the section called 'editor's letter' there is a pen to as it's a letter. As this house style is seen throughout the magazine it lets the reader know its a Q article as it is recognisable and linked  to them

Chosen Font

Chosen Masthead Font

This is my chosen font for my masthead. I chose this as it was voted for as the best font in my survey. This font is quite different to the rest. It is readable but quite edgy at the same time. The edges of the font are quite sharp which suggests that the type of music within the magazine is quite edgy and different from other genres.
