Analysis of
Final Cover
• The
title of my magazine is bold with a red outline. I feel that this stands out
and is the first thing that you see on the magazine and can be read from a
distance. Bold Writing is a typical convention of a magazine.
• All
of the writing on the front of my magazine is all similar colours and follows
the same theme. This makes the magazine look more professional and helps it all
to work well together. This is a convention of a normal magazine. All the fonts
I have used are simple so they are easy to read making the magazine more
appealing to the reader.
• By
putting Article titles on the front of the magazine it helps the reader to know
straight away what the content of the magazine is. By making them easy to read
this helps them to be able to read them quickly and easily and see if the
magazine is right for them.
• Magazines
all contain barcodes on the front of the page, so by putting a barcode on mine
it helps to make sure that my magazine fits the convention of magazines in
general.
Success
I think that my magazine cover is successful as it fulfils
the criteria of a school magazine and any magazines in general. The photo on my
magazine cover came out better than I thought it would and I think that it
looks like a picture that you would find on a school magazine if you looked in
the shops. I think that adding the barcode makes it look more professional and
by adding a competition it gives the reader a reason to look at the magazine. I
feel these few things, though small, help to make my magazine successful and
look more real.
What to Work On
When it comes to doing my main course work I will try to be
better at spreading out time better so I have loner to put my magazine together
and to do my analysis as I feel I should have spent longer on my magazine to
make it look better and as it is the main product I feel it should have more
time as it is more important. I feel that I will also put more work into my
research as I feel I only spent a short amount of time on my research. I hope
that next time I will make it more detailed. Finally I don’t think that my
photo is as good as I planned it to be and it could have been better. Because
of this I will spend more time on taking the right photo as I feel I rushed it
so it didn’t come out as well as I hoped it would.
Overall
After looking at both
the negatives and the positives of my magazine cover I feel that overall my
preliminary project went well. Although there were faults in my work and things
I could have done better I feel that is was successful as the final piece
resembles a magazine cover and it follows the conventions of a magazine cover.
I think that my Time Management was also okay. I feel that I could have spread
it out better and spent longer on more important things such as my evaluation,
but overall my time management wasn’t terrible. I also think that my design
choices were good and the features I chose to put into my magazine cover fit
what the magazine is about. The Photo i used in my magazine shows that the students are relaxed but are keen to work which is what i wanted my photo to reflect. My magazine is aimed at 15-19 of both genders and
overall I fell that my magazine cover fits this age range and is suitable for
both genders.
Photos i didn't use
I didn't use these photos as they didn't appeal to me and i didn't feel that they would look as good on my front cover as the photo that i used. I also didn't use them as i felt some of them were very dull or they didn't show what my magazine is about.
